I actually think the Paperwhite is the best kindle for pure reading.

Yeah, I agree. I was convinced I wouldn't like it because I didn't want to "plug in" to read, but the battery life is so insanely long that it's a non-issue. I still prefer the smell and feel of an actual book, but all the benefits you listed vastly outweigh that for me. Having a library in my pocket/bag is a very a comforting feeling for me. And since I travel for work it has lightened my luggage significantly!
