There's no proof either way, so to say with complete confidence there is nothing after death is disingenuous. Personally, I'm inclined to believe there's *something* after death. Not in the sense of us turning into ghosts or anything, but here's how I see it:

Everything is made up of smaller things. Your body is made of organs that are made of cells that are made of atoms that are made of sub-atomical particles. To me, it makes sense that our consciousness is the construct of smaller things working together. When we die, our body decomposes and all the little sub-atomical particles disperse and rejoin the cosmos. I think the same thing happens to whatever is responsible for our consciousness. It is ripped apart and spread across the cosmos to grow anew. In a way, one can argue that that is life after death. The continuous cycle of death and regrowth.
