Well the rumors are that they made this move with the understanding that Giannis will sign the supermax because it's a stupid move to make if they don't have that commitment from him. So they are probably justifying it not as 'this much for Jrue' but rather as 'this much to keep Giannis' and in that context it makes sense.

I would have loved Jrue on the Magic and have been campaigning for it all offseason but man not at that price. I thought it would cost like maybe a solid player and a pick. Or I had trades where the Magic sent AG or Vuc plus change to the Warriors for the 2 pick and then the 2 pick for Jrue.

Actually with the moves being made, maybe a contending team now is stupid enough to give a high price for Vuc or AG or Fournier because it's now an arms race to keep up
