Phil has propped him up, but did so with no self awareness. He keeps saying that if people enjoy what he does and want to support him, they should give him money. But when people aren't giving him money (which is evidence people DON'T enjoy what he does) he begs and guilt-trips his viewers. Never does he ever reflect and wonder: "Maybe people aren't buying my product because they don't like what I am selling" and thus improve the product but rather "I am not the problem, but the people not buying my product are the problem". This is what fascinates me about Phil. He is the least self aware person I have ever come across.
