Any sort of roaming deathsquads would be eliminated almost instantly unless you mean to say the military would back them.

The time when footsoldiers can fight meaningfully in the open passed like 30 years ago.

I use the term because that's the best way I can describe them. In reality it will likely be mobs that will form whenever they encounter anyone who disagrees with them politically; similar to what we're seeing now in places like Philadelphia. Since they're technically civilians 'protesting' they'll likely avoid military intervention, do their best to ruin the livelihood of anyone who disagrees with them, and have media support. What they'll call themselves and how extreme they will be, I have no clue.

There is no way a militia could stand up to the military regardless of which side it's on. We won't see militias forming lines like we did last time. Whichever party revolts will lose plain and simple. Some small-scale militias will likely persist by not causing much in the way of problems; but the moment they attempt to escalate beyond small-scale civilian disputes they'll lose.

In short, it's basically the situation we have now with the current riots except with Antifa and BLM getting aggressive because they now have presidential backing and groups like TPB getting aggressive specifically because they no longer have presidential backing.
