Assets include money, property, stocks, etc. Contrary to what you saw on Ducktales, rich people don't just have giant money banks -- almost all of their fortune is in their assets. Jeff Bezos is the richest man in the world and something 95%+ of that is in his assets. However, unlike Jeff Bezos (whose fortune is mostly tied to Amazon shares), Trump could unload some of his assets without diminishing the rest of his assets or forfeiting control of a company. And, when it comes to property developers, their business model involves taking loans to purchase properties.
