DAY 29: Friday the 13th Part II
On AMC

So now we get to Jason Voorheese in his prime!

Jason Voorheese kills people at Camp Crystal Lake. That's literally the movie.

First, remember when I said that it's only worth watching from Jason's mother onward? Well, they give you a 7 minute summary of the movie from that point onward at the start of this one! Although you do miss out on some excellent acting for Pamela Voorheese if you skip the first one.

This movie is distinctly different in that they outright show the murders and whatnot. But there's frankly nothing else to it. The campers are more interesting this time around, I guess. Jason's got a sack head instead of the hockey mask and he's a big fan of flannel.

I honest to goodness don't even know what to say about this movie. It has good kills. It set forth what the franchise would be more like for the rest of the film. But... it's still a very, very typical slasher with an added bonus of the ending being an interesting take on the genre.

I liked it well enough. Like I said, all of the Friday the 13th movies sort of blend together to me. I really just don't have much to say about it. But it does a good job on lore building in this movie and the soundtrack is still outstanding. It feels dated, but I also feel like I need to give this a similar score to the first movie since they're both roughly the same in terms of quality, but in different ways.

Rating: 6.5/10
