My biggest problem with uniforms is twofold:

1) It doesn't allow for individuality, everyone just becomes the same person. Individuality, even in clothing style, should be embraced and welcomed (as long as it fits the standards of good taste).

2) It doesn't help students understand the problem you describe, it just covers it up. Or worse, it makes it so they become adults who are less inclined to understand that discriminating against someone for those things is wrong. Rather then just forcing everyone to wear the same thing, how about teaching children to not discriminate against someone because of their financial situation, their clothing style, etc?

While this is all good points I'd rather 'sacrifice' this and have less bulling and shit like this than those things. Uniforms are used in some jobs in the real world so teaching kids and teens to follow a uniform policy helps with that too. Besides individuality can be expressed outside schools and in things other than appearance.
