Is it fair to have this ugly shirt banned?



A 15 y/o Heifer who DOESN'T want her name to be revealed was kicked out of her class after she wore THIS to school!!

Richard Penkoski, a PREACHER said the Overton County Schools in Tennessee violated her daughter's free speech after being booted.

She was sent to the time out chair at the principal's office since it broke school dress code for being sexually connotative

She protested after the school had a group supporting this message which DISGUSTED her because of her faith that says the lifestyle is an affront to God as father runs a shoddy ministry called Warriors for Christ and filed a lawsuit

She's identified as B.A.P in the lawsuit and says his daughter was forced to choose between abandoning her religious beliefs or following her personal convictions only to be disciplined as the punishment imposed a "substantial burden" on her

They are claiming the 4th and 14th rights were violated and will sue the district

I went to a snobby school and most of the kids had parents with decent jobs, but there were a few super poor kids that somehow wound up being districted in so you'd get the dudes with like gleaming Adidas everything then the kids with Walmart shit with holes in it. I was so out of touch about it until one year we were all talking about the cool loot we got at Xmas and my one buddy was like "I got a box of cereal" and I'm like "be serious, dude" and he's like "I am." I told my mom that and she was like "omg! If I had known I'd have bought him something!"

This shit is a homophobic shirt that could and would offend folk who attend her school, teachers, parents and so on. Free speech is all well and good but not when it's promoting a hate crime. Not only that but she broke the schools dress code regardless. Seems to me the parents are forcing this idea onto her too. Suspend her.

Not really. Hell my school back in my teens offered a sow on school logo for those who went and bought from stores rather than directly from the school due to costs. It certainly cuts down bullying too.

I once knew a kid wearing a shirt about how cops kill, etc. All that shit. It was like a paragraph long and very anti cop so to speak. So they told him to turn his shirt inside out. Cant wear shit like that needless to say that disrupts the learning creative process which I agree on. School isnt a place or time to spread your crap. But if you want to do it elsewhere, go right ahead. There are exceptions in this case. The school grounds have every right to say otherwise.

It's probably massively subsidized over in the UK to the point of almost being free. However, it can be very pricey in the US and you don't really have workarounds. Then again, sending your kids to private school is very expensive in the first place -- and that's part of the exclusivity that the private school crowd wants to keep -- so by design it locks out poorer students.

As someone who went to school in HK and had to wear uniform, these are the reasons why I hate them.

1) Button up shirts are uncomfortable in general.

2) People usually have 2 sets of uniforms, meaning they are to be wore multiple times before wash. They feel dirty to wear for active children during hot summer days.

3) I don't know what sick pedo fuck decided boys must wear shorts, even in winter.

4) It doesn't stop people from showing off wealth. There's shoes, backpack, watch, necklace, bracelet, pencil case, and nowadays cell phone and laptop.

Actually schools are locally funded, typically as part of the property taxes that land/home owners pay. The federal government doesn't pay for them directly. Also, there is no mention of education in the constitution, as it is not a federally guaranteed right, so therefore schools don't need to abide by the constitution for students.

While this is all good points I'd rather 'sacrifice' this and have less bulling and shit like this than those things. Uniforms are used in some jobs in the real world so teaching kids and teens to follow a uniform policy helps with that too. Besides individuality can be expressed outside schools and in things other than appearance.

There has never been a single case where people have won in court when it comes to offensive things like hate speech. Just because it's funded by taxes doesn't mean you can do whatever you want in school like you can outside of it.
