Zaland Fort City introduces us to Mustadio and I just about laugh out loud when I see his weapon is a literal GUN. The revolution is coming to Ivalice! The wizards on this map annoy the heck out of me, they charge super fast and hit us before we can really do anything, it takes me a few tries to get through properly. Agrias's AI is annoying me too here, she sometimes selects panels to Cure instead of people, and sometimes uses Protect instead of Cure. She's also fond of just wandering around at the back. Aside from the wizards this map isn't bad, Mustadio's Arm Aim seems incredibly useful and never misses once.

We then get a nice scene fleshing out Ovelia a little bit, and the return of the reed flute. I'm curious what Ovelia's deal will be here, in any other fantasy I would assume she'd be installed on the throne as the Good Monarch, magically ensuring peace across the land. But this game seems to be more complex than that, with class issues and the inherent hypocrisy of the ruling class at the top of its agenda, so I'd think/hope it doesn't go that way. Though Game of Thrones seemed to be anti-monarchy until it suddenly wasn't, so who knows.

We get to see what Summoners are all about on Bariaus Hill, and they pack quite a punch. Shiva just one-shots multiple people, oof. The map layout is also annoying, it's hard to get to everyone. This one takes me several tries, I get pretty annoyed at some of the bad luck with hit chances too, XCOM flashbacks. Little note here I like that all the enemies have unique names. Take that, TLOU2. I've been having some trouble in the past couple of fights so I retrain jobs a bit and now have a Lancer and Oracle (and Ramza now has a healing spell as a Monk which is nice), Jump seems to take too long to be of any real use but attacking from two spaces away is good.

So that's that? The more I know, the worse you appear.

Dycedarg gives the ok for Ramza's murder if he doesn't listen to reason. I like how Gafgarion is openly full of contempt for this man but follows him anyway as that's his job. Dycedarg has a plan, and oddly mentions that Ovelia being with Agrias means there will be many chances to kidnap her...

We get some lore and the Zodiac Brave Story name drop with the Cardinal and Mustadio, and we lose Agrias and the princess to head to the mechanical city of Goug. Things have taken a bit of a left turn here but I trust the game knows what it's doing.
