The gist of it is that there was a scheme to feed school children living in poverty when schools were closed, people have been campaigning (including the opposition party) to keep that going during the school breaks this year. The reason being that with the pandemic lots of families are seeing a major reduction in income and the welfare system is seriously shit and unreliable.

Scotland and Wales devolved governments are going ahead with providing meals. The Conservative Party overwhelmingly voted against it so it won't be happening in England and Northern Ireland.

Cue multiple tory MPs posting bullshit excuses for why they voted against it. My arseholes of a local representative made a lengthy social media post where he tried to put some of the blame on Marxists.
