What did you like most about the contest?

Thomas Cat vs. Jerry Mouse (Tom & Jerry)

72 days.

72 days passed (not including the two recent days where I couldn't post a match... and the 48-hour final match... in which case they were 75 days total) since we officially started doing this contest.

With a whopping total of 34 votes (13 more votes than the maximum we previously had in a single match IIRC, and around 20 votes more than the average per day), the final result looked like this:

Nintendo vs. SEGA < Tom Cat vs. Jerry Mouse, 11-23

You don't know how much this contest meant to me, in several ways. First and foremost, I could finally materialize what was once a distant project; something that I didn't know when or how I would've been able to nail down a project of this magnitude... After all, remember that this is the first Board 8 project I've hosted without any previous experience, so being able to pull everything off is nothing short of a dream come true.

I know there are several different users here with unique tastes regarding Board 8 contests, projects, discussion topics and such. Well, as there are many huge VGM lovers in here (including me), judging by what I've witnessed, there's no one in here more passionate about the concept of rivalries as I am. I've fantasized about seeing many different rivalries face off for years. This is an incredible concept with amazing potential that no one seemed to like back in 2011, when SBAllen announced Rivalry Rumble, though I'm not sure if it was because of how it was handled or simply because people didn't like the idea. Either way, I saw a gold mine in there, and I really wanted to expose this to this dear board.

This was an incredible challenge to me because I'm a really indisciplined person. I tried to get every daily topic right in time, but many times I had a lot of trouble doing it consistently because of the implications (selecting and crafting images, doing write-ups, polishing details, etc.).

I also know that there was some wasted potential (*cough*Yugi*cough*), but I'm truly glad I was able to handle it well enough from start to finish.

I also learned a lot while doing research for many of the entrants. I didn't know about Spy/Spy, some historical cases, Splinter/Shredder, or even Snoopy/Baron (yeah... lol me!), and seeing the strength of some of these entrants was really eye-opening.

So... What's next?

Should we see this contest again in the future? You get to decide.

In the meantime, tell me what you liked, what you didn't like, and whatever observation, suggestion or opinion you had about this contest. Were there any missed entrants that you would've like to see in? Discuss them down below.

It was a pleasure to be your host.

Oh, by the way, something very important: I want to add this to the Wiki, but I need suggestions on how to do it. I also want to do some x-stats. though I don't know how to calculate them.
