I agree that Abrams probably had no ideas in mind, and that if he'd tried to come up with one, it wouldn't have been as interesting as Rian Johnson's -- but that doesn't mean that Johnson's is consistent with Luke's character. It's also noteworthy that Luke shows up for five seconds in TFA, so even if it was set up in TFA, it sort of matters less because we don't yet know Luke's motives. Basically, Abrams created a situation where Johnson could muck up Luke's character. --- Not changing this sig until I decide to change this sig.
