The Burisma investigation had been shelved for like a year prior to Shokin being fired. The consensus of both parties in the US and our international allies was that Shokin was a huge impediment to Ukraines reform (because he was refusing to prosecute corruption). Joe had the backing of the Obama administration. This wasnt a decision that Joe was making in isolation.

  1. Joe was the VP. He was pivotal in setting the policy of the Obama administration. It's not like Obama was handling this personally and near the end brought Joe in to take care of it because he wanted to play golf.
  2. That Shokin was not prosecuting other corrupt companies does not mean that Burisma is innocent. Maybe he only prosecuted the corrupt companies that didn't pay him.
  3. A shelved investigation can be restarted.
  4. A consensus of unnamed people, without any indication of what evidence they relied on in forming their conclusions, is not evidence.
