It'll do great with current gen and cross gen stuff but next gen consoles overall have the edge in comparison. But I'm sure he'll still be able to at least play every game on it for many years yet and if he wants higher settings he probably can get away with just upgrading the GPU in 2-4 years and beat the new consoles.
