Does Biden putting some Republicans in charge of Transportation or Education actually benefit us as non-Republicans in any way? Does it at least pull the GOP left?

I'm not sure anything can pull the GOP left.

In any case, putting a Republican in charge of Education is a bad idea. We need someone who will support our public schools. Ultimately, I think it depends on what positions he considers them for. But regardless of what happens, our work (Progressives) isn't done just by getting Biden into office and it never was going to be. Even if Bernie Sanders had been the candidate, our work wouldn't be finished with voting him into office (as much as we'd like it to be). Biden is a tenuous ally at best. That's all he's ever been.

If Biden puts a Republican in charge of education, we should protest it just as much as we did when Trump put Betsy DeVos in charge of it. (And hopefully our Senators will actually listen to us this time). And that's exactly what I plan to do.
