If anything it offered the most engaging battle mechanics of any Bioshock game. There was heavy action, with a focus on moving around every battle area, and using tears to hell you in fights. Then there was the selection of powers that mixed things up and let you experiment fighting your own way. Gears also helped with this by giving you unique battle powers to further tailor your style.
