It's a horror film dear to me as part as my childhood horror canon along with It, Candyman, The Ring, and the Village, something that was really indelible to me at the time and has never left my mind since. Weirdly enough, Identity also connects to other nomination on the list, Umineko, as both are based on Agatha Christie's seminal work, And Then There Were None. Like Umineko though, Identity takes the concept and runs it in an originally weird direction, incorporating the paranormal and deftly exploring the depths of our sanity and the way we personally view ourselves in the mirror each and every day. The concept here is ten strangers arrive at a hotel, find out they're way more connected than they initially realize, as a series of odd coincidences and mysterious deaths play out over the course of a night. While all of this is happening, a mass murderer named Malcolm Rivers awaits execution as new evidence pertaining to his case is revealed, including a journal with prose that looks like it was written by eleven different people.
