Topic	Anagram Ranks Anything Star Wars-related with a Write-Up (spoilers)
Anagram 10/13/20 1:28:51 PM #102:	Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith From a technical competence perspective, yes, the Disney movies are vastly superior to the prequels. But the prequels have two advantages. The first is that they feel like a story an artist really wanted to tell. It really does feel like Lucas had this idea of a fallen hero story that he really wanted to tell, and he just didn't have the talent to do it, which gives the movies some level of soul that the Disney movies have a hard time replicating. The second advantage is memes. Holy mother of God, the memes. Everything in this movie is a meme. It's just so poorly made, so poorly acted, and so poorly written that everything is hilarious. I can just pick out any random line of dialogue and it's amazing how bad it is. Nothing makes any sense in this movie, Anakin's fall to the Dark Side happens in the time it takes me to write this sentence, and god, it's all just so wonderful. Do you remember that scene where Anakin and Obi-Wan just spin lightsabers around themselves for no reason? Remember when Palpatine says "It's treason, then," and spins around like a corkscrew toward a squid guy? This is The Room of science-fiction. I remember when this movie came out. Board 8 told me that it was great, that Lucas had really done it this time. I saw it with my friend David, fully expecting the movie to be great. I remember the exact line where I turned to David and said "Is this really bad?" (Padme talking about fixing up the baby's room) because I just couldn't believe what I was seeing. I was seventeen, and thought that no movie could possibly be this bad. I watched the movie a second time in theaters because I thought I'd somehow watched it wrong the first time. Board 8 specifically praised Samuel L. Jackson in the movie. God, you guys. So yeah! This movie is atrocious, but it's atrocious in a really fun, imaginative way that everyone should see. I fully acknowledge that the Disney movies are "better," but this is way more entertaining. By the way, people who claim that RotS is unironically better than RotJ are just... like, wrong. Irek Ismaren I just read the synopsis of this guy's life. This is just random dumb crap happening to a guy. The idea of a man becoming braindead and his mother desperately trying to restore him with computers is interesting, but the execution, god. Also, lightsaber elbows might be the dumbest thing ever. Also, his name sounds Armenian. Yaddle I hate her. She adds nothing and damages the mystery of Yoda's species. Hand of Thrawn Trilogy These are the only Star Wars books I've actually read. Comics, yes, but these are the only books. I'd heard about them when I was like nineteen, and was like "Sure, I'll give 'em a shot." I like the idea of a contrasting antagonist, who's not some kind of mystical magical guy, but is just a smart guy, who's smart but can still be outsmarted if you're clever enough. I remember the planet of guys who worship Darth Vader and join Leia because she's carrying Vader's grandchildren. For some reason, one thing that made an impression on me was the Katana fleet. The idea of identifying a lost fleet of ships based on their obscure upholstery was hilarious, and I completely approve. I remember the new rogue guy being a major character in the first two books, then the last book having nothing for him to do, so his plot just fizzles out. Everything about this series works. Many people commented that this should have been the new Star Wars trilogy, and they're right. Oh well! Pod Racer Video Game Watto Is Watto the most racist Star Wars character? It's got be either Watto, Jar-Jar, or Nute Gunray, right?
