I think he doed this for two reasons, one of them is validate himself. The other is to bring everyone down who isn't contributing. But jealous of what exactly? If you look at Phil in a vacuum, then yes. He makes money playing video games, and a good amount of it too. But if you look just beyond that, the fairy tale quickly disintegrates. Yes Phil makes money playing video games, but he has no passion for it, and is actually misserable doing what he is supposed to love. And he doesn't actually make money playing video games, he begs and almost forces people to pay him, using scams and other underhanded bullshit, while playing said video games. And to get where he is now he has burned any and all bridges with friends, family and the one person who actually loved and cared for him. He has no one or anything to fall back on. He has socially isolated himself. He has made no personal growth in over a decade. He has no back-up plan for when it all goes tits up. And if it eventually does, he really has no job prospects, other than a bottom tier job. He is also absolutely horrible with money, to the point that he is now actually bankrupt. Has a horrible spending habbit for a mobile game, and it doesn't look like he has created a buffer to help him survive after streaming is no longer viable. He is in a loveless relationship, sees his spouse only as someone who keeps the house clean (accidentally called her his mom on a couple of occasions) and nothing. His eyes never light up when talking about her. He had nothing that makes him happy, he is absolutely stuck in a rut, but he doesn't want to take a risk. He'd rather drown in money and be misserable. So yeah, he says we are jealous to deflect, but also for himself. Trying desperatly to convince us he is leading a life worth of being jealous of.
