FEATURED RIVALRY #4:

Unit 1 vs. Lou Ferris (World's Scariest Police Chases)



World's Scariest Police Chases is a police/driving simulator for the PSX. Among many other things, it contains 20 missions for you to cover your duty as a police officer. The first few missions consist of your training at the police academy, where your "unit" --conformed by a male driver and a female co-pilot in charge of shooting guns if necessary-- can be controlled by 1 or 2 players. The later missions feature real crimes that must be stopped, ranging from stopping a drunk driver on an otherwise chill neighborhood, to escorting an ambulance to the nearest hospital before the patient dies, to stopping mad terrorists from destroying the city.

And that's where this rivalry comes into place. Your duo, known by the codename "Unit 1", first encounter a certain individual known as "Lou Ferris" in the 11th mission: 'Sentence of Fire', where you must stop this mad man from detonating 4 bombs before it's too late.The mission is not only really difficult, but it also features a lot of dialogue between Unit 1 and this guy so he can reconsider, and it's the first criminal which you have no clue as what he looks like. Later on, though, he returns on the 17th mission, where you must arrest him and put him in prison.

If this wasn't enough, by the last mission, called: "Final Showdown", he manages to escape prison, and it's up to you to (and I quote) "use any means necessary to stop him", so you are now able to use a freaking rocket-launcher if you consider it necessary.

This is one of my personal favorite 'unknown' rivalries out there, and it's pretty cool." -Advokaiser
