As long as you don't mind that there's a bunch of different resource and leveling systems, you can generally tune out the monetization. There's one moment about an hour in where it hits you with it, and then it doesn't really make a big deal after that. Or at least that's been my experience so far, at 8 hours or so. I pulled Fischl twice on consecutive packs.
