Oh wow, I beat the surprise Tisiphone encounter on my first try on my first time ever using the shield (and after I lost a life to the crystal mini-boss because the shield seems kinda bad for all the laser beams). Luckily I had two death defiances otherwise I wouldn't have, lol.
