Getting extra stacks of Death Defiance for the final fight is good. I'd focus on piling on as many boons as possible for the first clear, usually from the same god if possible since picking up some boons allows you to get better buffs from that same god that affect their other boons. Stacking a bunch of Ares' boons to do lots of Doom damage is a pretty easy way to win with certain weapons (how I got my first gun win).

Athena is another good one to stack a bunch of her boons because if everything you do deflects attacks you'll barely ever get hit. Even more so if you have the shield since you can either deflect everything or hold the attack button to block any attacks coming at your face
