I'm not an xbox fan, but PC is my prefered gaming source. If microsoft releases everything decent for pc that it releases on Xbox (Whatever the new one is), I think the xbox will die. I would not even buy a new xbox (didn't get the last one) for a new fallout game at this point, and I'm pretty sure fallout/ES games will come to PC as well (Even if delayed).

I hate gaming on the PC, but I'm starting to realize that it's an inevitability for any number of reasons. My biggest single problem is still just how much of it is digital and the concern about all that going away, but people -- probably including in here -- have pointed out that even if Steam closed, a competitor would likely pick its customerbase and honor its commitments.

I greatly prefer consoles (since I can be sure things will work fine on it), but there's a convenience factor for PC and -- although I have yet to mod anything -- the possibility of mods makes things appealing.

And as a general thing, if an XBox is basically a PC, it can go on forever since a lot of people prefer the console experience (and since smartphones and smart tvs are a thing, people don't always own a pc/laptop any more)

The other benefit to PC is just the fact that -- in theory -- I don't have to buy a new thing every few years to play current games. (Although, from a practical standpoint, I'm sure a lot of newer games might not run exceptionally well on my laptops where I'd generally be guaranteed that they would on a console.)
