.

It is a disturbing trend that rural areas have rising positivity rates. There is less access to health care and maybe? the attitude that coronavirus is like big-city crime and only happens in the big city?

Positivity rates in Illinois are driven by work related tests, by where the free tests are located and who has time to wait for them; and many other factors (I have not thought of)

For whatever reasons Illinois is below 4% but Kankakee/ Will County just slid under 8% on September 9. These counties are just far enough south of Chicago not to be considered suburbs. The St. Louis area (Metro East) is at 10%.

It is just weird that East Saint Louis is higher than Chicago. Chicago has some of the best hospitals in the country depending on metric. The patient evaluation goes to Rush Presbyterian St. Luke and the professional evaluation goes to University of Chicago Hospitals. This is a factor. Chicago has important people depending on it. Another factor.

My zip code 60608 has gone down to 8.1% with a cumulative of 14.9%. Yesterday was Sunday. There were people of all ages out and no one wore a mask. I did not see one mask Sunday. My guess is that all of the people who would wear a mask are staying home.
