I know we kind of scratched this subject before, but I am really curious what all your thoughts are:

Do you think Phil has a backup plan? Use whatever cirteria you want, but I want to know what your thoughts are.

I personally believe he has no backup plan, he has no money set aside and I truly believe that the deal he made with his mom that he will get a job in 10 years was just a lie to keep her content. I am going to use Phil's personality as a guiding beacon here.

For starters, as far as we know, Phil has been fired (or let go, so to speak) from every job he has, and he is not beyond fucking his friends out of their money for his own personal gain. Given Phil's narcissism and complete lack of empathy he will not feel bad about any of that, but also makes a horrible employee. Imagine calling the customer's service of basically any company, and speaking to someone like Phil. But for some reason Phil is convinced he could land a job at Boeing or MicroSoft. Even though those companies have a pretty high bar, they will not hire just anyone, there will be extensive background checks and Phil has a HUGE gap in his resume. He hasn't developed himself, learned new skills and hasn't done anything recent with his education.

On top of that, I doubt Phil has any money set aside. If it is true, and at this point it's more likely true than it is not, Phil has a HUGE spending problem, whaling for at least one gacha game. It would explain why he never has any money to do anything. He might be banking on inheriting anything from his parents. Now I believe that Phil's dad (seeing how he is the only one working) has aside enough money so that he and his mom can ride it out comfortably. But even then it's not enough to help Phil out long term. Lets assume, best case scenario that Phil will inherit 100.000 dollars from his parents should they die, that is even less than he makes a year. And given Phil's spending behaviour this money won't last long.

Now of course, Kat is also working, but given their current life, there is just no way that she can support them both. Phil does not qualify for anything special, like a disability check, he cannot make use of an unemployment check because he hasn't had a job in over a decade. So what would happen from there?

My guess is that Phill will keep on streaming till the well has dried up. He has made it abundantly clear in the past that he has absolutely no desire to get an actual job. And I kind of get that, because no job he would qualify for (assuming he makes it through an interview) would pay even remotely the same as he makes with streaming now. So that would mean that he would have to start making compromises. I honestly believe though, that between Kat and him, they both could earn enough money if she would make more hours, and Phil just accepts any job he can, they can still make enough money to live comfortably. I am convinced of this, it will just take a couple of compromises and most of all, stop dumping truckloads of money on a fucking gacha game.

I don't believe Phil's future is bleak and horrible. Even though he might not have set money aside, or a backup plan, I know for a fact that he can make it work. The question is: will he do it? Can he take a hit, will he make a compromise? Because if he is able to set aside his ego, he still has room to work something out here.

What are your thoughts on this? Think Phil can salvage something for his future? Or will he rather doom himself than make a compromise?
