I think the main factor might be that still enjoys some sense of accomplishment when he beats games. He'll hate a game the whole time he plays it, but finishing it does feel good. If he plays on Easy, that sense of accomplishment is gone. He can't flex during the end credits because chat will be full of messages about how he played on Easy, so beating the game means nothing--anyone can beat a game on Easy.

That actually makes sense. If you look at Phil's top 10 games of last year, there aren't any weird things there. But if you look at the actual gameplay of those games, you would become convinced that he hates every single one of these games. It stands to reason that finishing a game would undo some of that hate, because I can agree that completing a game does create a "feel good" sensation. A sense of accomplishment.

But it would never take long before Phil to fall back in old habbits though.
