My goal is always going to be make sure their racists views can't harm others, and if the only way to accomplish that is to make people afraid to be openly racist, then so be it. You don't beat racists by destroying their lives. That just breeds resentment and reinforces their beliefs. You beat them by providing a counter-example, challenging their beliefs directly.
