They fight and defy each other repeatedly throughout the film and that never really resolves they both just do their own thing and then the story ends. Elsa definitely has the beginning and ending of a character arc but I don't think the middle portion connects them, if that makes any sense. Also tying everything to ~~their parents~~ retroactively feels contrived and overly convoluted as fuck but maybe that's just me. There's like three plot twists too many in that regard. I did actually enjoy how the movie decided not to have a traditional antagonist.
