You gain both at the same time, but only from "hard" enemies, and in very small quantities. You absolutely wanna unlock it as fast as possible. Some classes REALLY want like 50-100JP. Like, beastmaster gets -5 ready recast timer on one of their early-ish nodes, and the difference between a pet nuke every 15s and 10s is crazy. Merit points are gained VERY easily as you farm for JP, to the point where you can cap out in like 15-30m iirc. Won't be too hard to get everything you want pretty quickly. Entity13 posted...
