Sort of. The point is you can't just shut down society forever on the hope that a magical vaccine will come in and save everyone.

You need to get the infection rates down massively, then prevent further outbreaks with huge testing programs and tracing contacts of people that are infected.

If you just shut down for years the economic costs are too huge and then companies might as well relocate to countries that have already beaten this. Taiwan, Korea, China to name a few.

DUDE. NOONE IS SAYING LOCK DOWN FOR YEARS. NOONE. STOP.

This cant be a black and white situation. You cant set a date and be like "well, infection rates are way up, buttttt we promised to lift lockdown on this date, so we'll just say fuck it and write it off as a waste of time."
