It branches out from its GTA clone of a predecessor and leans into the absurdity that becomes it's trademark but without everything becoming a joke. Stillwater is a fantastic, varied city and the missions and side games are much better here than the rest of the franchise. Customization is second to none. SR3 is SR2 with better graphics, more polished gameplay and less if everything else. The game now rest entirely in absurdity to the point that nothing is serious. Steelport is boring. Customization is worse. The missions kinda suck. Still a fun game but it just doesn't compare to 2. SR4 is very similar to 3, but it has now moved so past open world crime simulator that it feels less like watered down 2 and more like its own thing. I imagine people who only played 3 would probably like 3 more than 4 though. I didn't rank SR1 because it really was just a less polished GTA clone. --- *Gheb is my other account* ...
