| Strife2 08/05/20 12:05:33 AM #33: | Suspension of disbelief is the goal. The problem is most wrestlers want to be seen as half actors/half sport star. "Performance artists" is the term. The issue is on both sides, being both too creative or too regimented, leads to a disconnect. There is just something missing in the "sport" context to be real, but too MUCH sport to be taken as a film or sketch comedy. Sure, some wrestlers played the game so well they transcended it, but when the only person who feels "real" in any sense is Brock, it sure speaks to some core aspect of wrestling that just isn't the same. Wrestling is...wrestling. But it isn't trying to be that.
