Power and internet is being a little spotty due to the storm. If I lost power, it'd probably be the worst time for it since I'm furloughed and the pandemic has shut a lot of shit down. And even after the storm ends, I won't really be out of the woods for several days because damaged trees could still fall and down power lines, among other issues.

I have a bunch of devices fully powered, but my laptops will only last about an hour or so. My Chromebook is a bit better, but there's not much I can do on that. The Nintendo Switch -- have I mentioned how much I hate this thing yet? -- will only be good for 2-3 hours. My 3ds (which I need to charge) should last 4-6. I gotta find and charge my DS (or DSes?), which could late 5-10. And my GBA-SP could be good for 6-14 hours. Then my original gba runs on batteries, so that doesn't have a time-frame... but it also doesn't have a backlit screen. If I do lose power, I'll probably traditionally game more than I had in the past 6-7 months.

I misplaced my portable DvD player, although that I think lasts 3-6 hours.

Outside of electronics, I have a ton of books, manga, and a few TPBs sitting around, although it'd be a little inconvenient reading when it's dark out. While I've sometimes remarked that I might own 30 years' worth of entertainment, a lot of that requires electricity.

At any rate, on a happier note, apparently this is a thing:

I'm not sure I've spent over $300 on a non-essential in a few years now (probably not since I bought a ps3 slim to replace my YLOD'd ps3), but I was sold on this the moment I saw it... so much so that, when I first saw it on BBTS for $500, I was going to just buy it there before deciding to see if that was the actual MSRP.

It's a staggering 26-inches tall and makes Hasbro's previous 16-inch Sentinel look small by comparison (side-note: I think I paid $70 for a comic-con Sentinel and then I later found some at TJ Maxx or Marshall's for $30 each. I had wished I had just bought all they had instead of getting an additional two, but this blows them out of the water). It's also more in the style I had wanted all along. The only downside is that this is kind of a one-shot production so I have to decide now whether to just get one or buy multiples (the order limit is 5, but I probably wouldn't go with 5). While I would want multiples for a display in my front hallway, the size may be kind of an issue.

"28 Gedks Later."

Usually I would just assume that's a typo >_>

Maybe even start the process of adopting a little rugrat since I can't have kids the natural way any longer.

Oof. Sorry to hear that, but there are a lot of kids in the system who need a good home.

Personally, I think if I ever adopted, it would be so they'd support my natural-born children (ie, an extra pair of hands around the house or something). The kinda cool thing about adopting can be the choice factor (albeit with older kids) whereas natural birth can kinda be a lotto.
