Topic | Anyone think beds are too expensive? |
Zeus 08/04/20 4:14:19 PM #2: | Beds are generally cheap, it's the mattress that kills you. As for mattress pricing, there's so much obfuscation in the industry that it's hard to determine what a fair price might actually be. Plus all of the really good mattresses tend to be over $1200 (and the lowest-end Tempurs I think are like $2800). And then there's the matter of quality. Something like a Tempur will hold up 20+ years (in fact, I think they used to warranty them out 20 years). You could possibly go through 3-4 $300 beds in that same time... although, honestly, peoples' beds often have to be almost falling apart before they replace them unless they're moving and starting things on a clean slate rather than transporting their furniture. Oh, and then you have the adjustable bases (which you could use in lieu of a tradition bed frame and obviously removes any need for a box spring) which can run you probably $500 or $600 for a cheap one but also can get up to the thousands. --- (\/)(\/)|-| There are precious few at ease / With moral ambiguities / So we act as though they don't exist. ...
