MLaaDL is essentially a Tower Defense game... in the form of setting up literal dungeon tower floors of enemies. I wasn't really much of a fan partly since I just wasn't big on Tower Defense but also just how different a game it is from the predecessor MLaaK - conceptually it's the mirror of what MLaaK was. MLaaDL is exactly what MLaaK was not (the adventures) and nothing of what it was (the building-up of a consistent town/kingdom).

If a tower defense game is what you're looking for I mean it's certainly more dynamic than my initial description, you do add more floors as adventurers clear through them and the strategy partly relies on the number/order/variety of adventurers in a wave: A floor is filled by 3 adventurers, so a 4th/5th/6th adventurer will keep going to the next floor, and so you may have to consider which adventurers will land on which floors and that those floors contain monsters the arriving party is weak to and such. I didn't really continue it to the end so I can't be much of a critic since it wasn't really the game I was looking for but this is the gist of the gameplay. Still a fan of the world itself tho as it relates to MLaaK, like yeah being the mirror makes the gameplay a completely different thing but it's interesting as a concept to show the other side of the first game and Mira is cool.

also fun fact it has a couple FF4 characters as DLC monster units you can assign, I know Kain was one...
