When they've been inside for so many years they are really cautious and slow and just hang out close to the house and you're like "OK that's not too bad". Then they start wandering away... and bringing back wild animals and everything. Stopped doing that when the vet said that cats can get heartworm from mosquitoes. They do make topical medicines to prevent that but ugh. Don't even want to risk it!! You can get them used to things at a young age, like walks on leashes and stuff.
