Without knowing much of anything about SKRS, I get the sense that Maya falls more into the rival category as opposed to a straight-up villain, competing with Aijou Karen to be the best... musician? Actress? Something in that range. This is probably one of the stronger cases of the melody of the song contributing to heavily to the characterization; you really get the sense that this is a battle, but less so once Maya's sections really take over. Maya is, as the title suggests, confident and arrogant, and rightfully so. She welcomes people to challenge her, but knows nobody else truly can, and proclaims her dominance, saying "I have no need for those who lack willpower."
