A dog can bite you and you'll be fine, aside from the actual wound trauma. Dog saliva is actually antiseptic. That's why dogs lick their wounds, and why that's a saying in the first place. If you have an injury and your dog licks it, it will actually help it heal. Not making that up, dog spit heals injuries. The mouth of a cat, on the other hand, is septic. Even to other cats.
