I'd wait and see if it gets worse. I've been nipped by my cats and clawed but it never was a problem. Of course, they usually weren't trying to REALLY hurt me, which makes me wonder what you were doing to your cat?

given it's a stray and likely doesn't have a rabies vaccine concern should be a little.

Keep it clean and you should be fine. Heck soak it in epsom salt while it is open if you have some.

The only thing you may need to worry about is this but it is not a common thing

Orally administered vitamin prescription. It's not anyone's fault. Def not his. I just need to feed him vitamin and he isn't exactly a fan of the process.

What triggered it to bite you? I've been following your cat thread.

EDIT I read what you just posted.

Just keep it clean, it should be fine.

Definitely watch it closely for a few days, cat teeth are long and thin which is why they're bad about causing bacteria to get sealed beneath the skin. But I wouldn't go to the doctor unless it started showing signs of infection.

Oh yeah if it wasn't actually a puncture bite then I wouldn't even be worried. It's only when they bite straight down and their teeth embed bacteria under the surface that then gets closed over quickly that it's really an issue.

Om what pain level should i be concerned? Right now it's kinda like minor sting when you accidentally shallow cut your finger peeling fruit.
Sting a bit more if i touch it obviously but maybe 0.3 in the scale of 10.

Any other signs of it getting worse?

No.

Once had a cat that would bite or rip your hand off.

Scratched and bitten me plenty of times.

My current cat is just a big baby.

Might paw and gnaw at ones hand but never draws blood.

You'd have to be really hurting her for that to happen.

if it's a stray, you should handle it with gloves so that it doesn't hurt you like that. work slowly to build trust and get it used to human touch

TC, you'll live. Even if you leave the wound alone.

My cat (playfully) bites and scratches me all the time. I usually give it a good rinse and dry. If the wound is bleeding and over half an inch long, I put some disinfectant on it. Maybe a plaster.

You might notice some changes like enhanced hearing, night vision, quick flexibility the next day. This is nothing to be scared about. In fact, you should think of this as a blessing. Remember, with great power comes great responsibility.

I got a cat bite on my hand once that caused my entire hand to swell up to three times it's normal size.

Had to get a stint put in, and self administer IV antibiotics every day.

Was not fun.

No, it's a legit thing and I think many here are taking it lightly. A dog can bite you and you'll be fine, aside from the actual wound trauma. Dog saliva is actually antiseptic. That's why dogs lick their wounds, and why that's a saying in the first place. If you have an injury and your dog licks it, it will actually help it heal. Not making that up, dog spit heals injuries.

The mouth of a cat, on the other hand, is septic. Even to other cats. Friend of mine brought a kitten into her house, one of her senior cats bit it in the leg, the thing almost lost his leg from infection.

I mean i dont have anything but anecdotal evidence but my cat probly bleeds me at least once a day going back a year.

that sounds bad but he is very gentle hes just strong and got some pointies. He wont ever goes claws out on anyone else and he holds back a ton on me too.... but seriously lyme disease is a genuine risk and i still hike all the time and take basic precautions.

Cat scratch fever is way less likely than lyme from a tick (given the prevelance of cat owners vs outdoors types) and im pretty sure basic precautions with either will keep you safe.

Ill stop rough housing with my cat the day i stop going into the bush. And ill stop
going into the bush the day i stop crossing the road cause of cars.
