From 1968 to 2004, Virginia voted for the Republican Party candidate. Then, in the 2008 and 2012 elections, the state voted for the Democratic Party. The same trend continued in the 2016presidential elections.

Because outside of Obama they have overwhelmingly been red since Johnson.

you should read an entire post before you start responding. You've yet to make a single post that actually reflects what was written.

Looking at the states in the 60s, 70s, and even the 80s when only Minnesota was never a red state is a terrible metric.
"I don't like your facts so let me move the goalpost, we need to use a narrower set of data so it's more accurate!!" ~ said someone who doesn't like when reality doesn't fit his false perception.

and even using your "only since 2000", they went red everytime but obama and e-gads, florida voted for hillary in that democratic primary. Though in typical DNC fashion, those delegates from florida didn't get to count anyway because florida dared to have their primary before Iowa. THough at least in that case the DNC worked against democracy to ensure we did get the better candidate of Obama. Even if he failed to be that hope and change he campaigned on.
