I hate my country right now.

I think in the distant future our only export will be entertainment. And prob corn.

Growing up American i learned about the American revolution every single year in grade school. The revolution, civil War and wwi/ii in every single year of middle school. In high school my required history classes had me learning about the american revolution, the Civil War, world wars, Korea, and Vietnam. Each time. Two credits of history iirc, both the same exact thing.

Sure there were a few things here and there I learned that weren't nationalistic. I recall briefly talking about genocide in Yugoslavia in a psychology class. I learned somewhat in depth about the French and English warring with each other in English class. But for the most part I was taught that America is the greatest nation on earth, the biggest pillar of freedom, and the greatest military and economic power in the world, 10 of my 12 years in school. It was also heavily implied we were the first people in history to "free the slaves" and i was never, ever told otherwise. I found it out on my own when I was like 25.

World history was not required once, nor did I learn any actual world history even once. I only learned about other countries if we went to war with them.

Edit, I should add i took all the easiest offered courses I could in high school.
