Not so much here, where the song is anything but dull. Like Gamma Unchained, it records the song over 8-bit instrumentals, but never feels limited by them; they're there more for added flavor than as a strict guideline. Part of me wants to dislike the song; there's a lot going on in a way that would usually strike me as unpleasant, and yet I'm still feeling a little jazzed over it. The subject matter of the song is Metal Man, who... look I haven't played the Mega Man games but as far as I knew he was basically just a robot with some blades. This song definitely fucks with that perception, giving Metal Man a love story that I wasn't expecting and definitely didn't ask for. It's such a touching love song, in fact, that it robs Metal Man of anything that made him villainous! He just wants love but he can't accept it into his lonely, metal heart! That's so sad!
