The problem with this exposure is that a lot of people can't distinguish between individuals and larger groups. Again, it's like in the 90's where there are some violent and angry people who just happen to play video games. When that made it to the press, video games were targeted and immediately put the blame upon. Even Trump has uttered such comments during his presidency.

I'm uncertain why anyone who likes games, which I think makes you a "gamer" too, would want this type of story to be taken by the mainstream media who has a history of spinning this in an unhelpful direction.

I will continue to buy games and enjoy them.

I couldn't care less about competitive gaming communities. They are a cancer and this kind of destruction will be good for them in the long run.
