He is only citing those polls from 2016 as a bludgeon against non-Natives to say that we shouldn't care because Natives allegedly don't care. But I remember the debates about those polls in 2016 and they were debunked even at the time. If you said you didn't care, he'd credit you and use you as a weapon, now that you've said you do care, you're oversensitive and can't speak for others. This is the exact same debate that was had in 2016 and the same debate about Confederate monuments. Some people are just fundamentally opposed to the idea that things they're used to and that don't bother them personally should be changed because they are symbols of other people's subjugation.
