You just gotta make it into a habit so you really stick with it (even during times when you don't feel like it....). If you want to combine two things, you can always stream yourself creating art. Who knows, you could always gain a following that way. Punnyz posted... The things I HAVE done probably won't appeal to most people.It makes me wonder if I should do the commission thing too Something to consider is that since your main thing is sprite making, there's always a chance that you'll get noticed by someone creating an indie game and they're looking for a sprite artist, but that's definitely something you would willingly have to do out of passion.
