It doesn't surprise me that the director of this game was also the director for Ever17, as the game shares a lot of similar themes, similar pacing issues, and a final route that reveals everything going on behind the scenes. I feel that most of the Before route could be completely cut from the game and it would still work out extremely well - however the rest of the game is excellent and definitely worth a read, though the unique way of accessing certain scenes may require a guide. I initially got a normal ending which resolved nothing in the final chapter my first time through.
