It is really simple. Just post each time you beat a game throughout the year and the platform you played it on. Do not hesitate to add some discussion in regards to the games you or others beat.

At the bottom of this post is a link to a Google word doc that you are free to edit to immortalize your gaming accomplishments. Feel free to tinker with your color, font, and/or bulletpoint/numbering options, but do know that users are supposed to be in alphabetical order.

My friend impelled me to play Hatoful Boyfriend tonight, which I'd never seen. I got like 3 of the endings, so I guess that counts as beating?

I finally beat Calasmos yesterday. I'm seriously tempted to play through this hundred-hour game again with some Draconian restrictions enabled, to put my feelings into perspective.

Deemo Reborn (PS4)

I feel that this remake not only updated the graphics but also updated the story progression a lot better, as there are more songs to collect through the various puzzles and this helps grow the tree a lot faster, as new songs add more height to the tree on their first play. The story is mostly unchanged. However, though this game has (currently) unique songs in it, it loses all of V.K's tracks (like Wings of Piano and Reflection Mirror Night) and I'm not entirely sure why that is. I say currently because the tracks that were originally only in the Vita version were eventually patched into the mobile version, so I assume these will as well. Still worth a look if you want, but the Switch version is probably the definitive one.

Shovel Knight: King of Cards (Vita)
One of the better campaigns. I don't know if it's the best. Despite moving away from a Megaman structure of boss stage after boss stage, it had some really good boss fights and stage design. The card game is fun too, once you wrap your head around it.

Death Stranding

I really enjoyed this overall. I think it's a game where it's easier to discuss the flaws than the strengths, such as the poor plot pacing, presentation of themes, and gameplay that can easily be considered tedious if you're not into it. But I thoroughly enjoyed the emphasis on traversal and a lot of the story beats. From a technical perspective the mocap and modelling is some of the best I've ever seen. It's not something I'd recommend to everyone but it's definitely a unique experience and I can commend them for trying something different and genuinely succeeding in a lot of areas.

Easily the best moments in the game are when you're travelling and the music kicks in. The trip to port knot city early in the game exemplifies this well for example.

I switched the Language from English to Japanese on my Genesis Mini and Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine turned into Puyo Puyo 2.

It was nice to play this version. I got to see new characters and listened to new music

  1. Wheel of Fortune (Switch)
  2. Jeopardy (Switch)
  3. Super Mario Maker 2 (Switch)

Took care of some Christmas gifts the past few days. Wheel and Jeopardy were fun little romps. I played a few complete games of each. I won on Jeopardy with $20,000 and also got $34,000 in the bonus round of Wheel.

I completed the story mode of Mario Maker, getting the castle to 100%. It was cute with all the Toad drama.

Resident Evil 0: HD Remaster (PC)

Its a nice peek into what would eventually be Capcom's way of dealing with co-op in the franchise. They fixed the tank controls at widened the screen to a nice resolution though but despite that, it is clearly a 2000s game and it shows. There is alot of backtracking in this game, artificially forced upon you by making you juggle two very tiny inventories, no chest in save rooms, and that annoying door swinging animation that was cool decades ago. The story is also very bare bones, mostly relying on exposition like something out of canon-welding fanfiction. I like the graphical updates but I wish it was a whole lot more. Not worthy a replay but I'm glad I finally got to play this. 5/10

Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors (PC)

Thank god for the ability to skip text. Well this was quite taxing but the true ending was worth it. If not a bit confusing. I tried playing this game on the NDS ages ago but was quite bored with it. I know nothing about the sequels other than they exist and are quite good. I don't even know if they're connected. But I will play them now that they're on Steam. Eventually.

A pretty cool walking sim, but I felt like the ending was kind of a cop-out.

Not quite as polished of an experience as Sonic 3&K, but definitely a good classic-style Sonic game. Didn't get all the emeralds because I'm terrible at the UFO chase stages, so only got the default ending.

Landstalker (Genesis)

Replayed via Genesis Mini.

One of my favorite games. Felt nice to go through it again.

You play as Nigel, a forest elf who looks like Link from the Legend of Zelda and he's joined by Friday, a wood nymph as they team up in search of the treasures of King Nole. This game was often compared to Zelda in it's look and how it played.

You play in an 3/4 isometric view. Controls take some time getting used and then they become second nature. Combat is fun and simple. Some clever secrets are hidden due to the view. Platforming can be quite tricky and there are some nice puzzles to solve.

Eventually the same team that made this game went on to make Alundra for the PS1, another great game with character designs very similar to Landstalker.
