Because America is DEEPLY rooted in being anti establishment and showing a strong opposition to tyranny. Yeah, all snarky comments aside this is pretty much on point. Its the reason why the flag is painted on the roof of the car in the Dukes of Hazard. Still problematic, just like a few other symbols of this country. We're just too stuck in the past and can't get over ourselves long enough to actually address any of it.
