Oddly enough, being anti-government is considered patriotic by many because the country was founded on the principle of rebellion and small government and basically being hyper vigilant about watching out for government power grabs. Not defending the confederate flag but trying to explain the pathology behind confederate flag wavers. It's a symbol of rebellion against big government to them. Ironically, these people typically support the republican party which is just as tyrannical, by and large, as the democrats Yeah, all snarky comments aside this is pretty much on point. Its the reason why the flag is painted on the roof of the car in the Dukes of Hazard. Still problematic, just like a few other symbols of this country.
